Lithograph man's portrait colorized - Vintage 19th century German picture in old frame from 1873

This is a beautiful and impressive picture: it is likely a lithograph (or made in a similar printing technique) that's been colorized. It shows a portrait of a German (?) man called E. Schweitzer - in the best fashion of his time. Which was during the 19th century, as the picture also gives the date of 1873.
Unfortunately we don't know who this man was or what he did, but the back of the picture gives further clues for those, who're able to read the scribbles someone wrote there with a pencil (we're not).
Of course you don't necessarily have to research E. Schweitzer's past, or find out if that was the portraied man or the portrayer. You can also simply take this beautiful picture and put it on the wall, where it belongs. Should you find out more about him, though, or are able to decipher the writings on the back, feel free to enlighten us...

The picture is in very good condition, with only common signs of aging (a bit yellowing of the paper). The frame is maybe a bit younger, but also looks very old especially on the rugged back, abd has a few scratches on the edge.

Dimensions frame: ca. 23 cm height, ca. 16 cm width, ca. 1,5 cm depth, ca. 335 g weight.
